When the journey seems too challenging or we are stuck on an emotional trauma, it can be difficult to see it clearly enough to make sense of it. That is why stories can be so powerful. If we can see ourselves as a character from a hero’s journey or a video game, we will gain the necessary perspective to recognize perceived roadblocks for what they really are—helpful speedbumps on our way to success or self-actualization (a.k.a.
